I collaborated with Hero Cosmetics on limited-edition charms to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. These dual-sided designs reflect both my traditional and adaptive upbringing up as a first-generation Vietnamese-American. Regularly being on the roads of Houston, Texas, I ate SO MUCH American fast food on a daily basis, as well as Vietnamese or Chinese food for extended family gatherings. At home, dinner was always a surprise since my mom moved to America at 17 and didn’t grow up cooking. She’d try to make phở (it was notoriously bad) and would instead pick it up from restaurants. However, she could whip up a mean spaghetti, which became one of favorite dishes from her.
